Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano hosted Real Madrid & lost 2 - 3. Both Clubs needed points, the home side to secure their presence in Liga next season while Real Madrid to stay alive the Liga title race.

Real Madrid left Cristiano Roanldo at home to rest, while Sergio Ramos & Modric were on the bench. This may have allowed Rayo to exploit the "unaccustomed" situation & they started on fire. Rapidly they put Real Madrid on the ropes with an opening goal from Embarba in the 6th min & Miku in the 13th min.

Nerves & doubts began racing through the Real Madrid side as they began seeing how the Liga title may slip this afternoon. However, Garath Bale took control & gave his side wings scoring in the 34th min. The Welshman was the key today for the Real Madrid victory along with Isco & Lucas Vazquez who headed the equalizer in the 51st min.

Rayo then made some silly mistakes which allowed Bale to steal a ball from a failed Rayo pass to score the winner in the 81st min. Rayo nearly have the equalizer in the end but the Real Madrid defence deflected over the bar.

Close call for Real Madrid which work very hard to get their 3 points. Rayo will be upset for making mistakes in critical moments, & they were punished.

At Madrid Soccer Spain

Atletico Madrid managed to win 1 - 0 a very stick Malaga FC to maintain themselves in the race for the Spanish Liga title. Very tense affair, lots of nerves & even doubt as At Madrid kept smashing into the Malaga "wall".

At Madrid Coach Simeone was overwhemled by the pressure & was sent off by the referee as he disputed most of the controversial (in his mind) decisions. However, young Argentine forward Correa broke through in the 62 nd min to put Atletico ahead & eventually secure the three points. Vital win for At.Madrid.

FC Barcelona also does not fail & keeps the top spot of La Liga ladder after defeating Real Sporting de Gijon 6 - 0. The latter hangs in the relegation zone & is now fighting for its Liga survival.

Barça relatively dominated the encounter with some moments of lapses that allowed Sporting Gijon to create chances that they failed to convert. However Gijon was overrun in the latter part of the match by Barça. Again Luis Suarez scored four goals again & practically races away in the Liga & European Golden Boot tally. The match had a peculiarity in that the last 3 goals were penalties

Goalscorers:
  • Messi 39th min, 1 - 0
  • Luis Suarez 64th min, 2 - 0
  • Luis Suarez 74th min penalty, 3 - 0
  • Luis Suarez 77th min penalty, 4 - 0
  • Neymar 86th min penalty, 5 - 0
  • Luis Suarez 88th min, 6 - 0

Eibar 1 (Adrian 7th min)- Deportivo A Coruña 1 (Cartabia 70th min)
