Atletico de Madrid hosted the Swedish Club Malmo to win 5 - 0 in their Group A match. The goals all came in the 2ยบ half after the Swedes held off defensively all
the Spanish attacks in the first 45 minutes.

Atletico de Madrid finally broke through the Malmo defence in the 48th min when Koke scored from a Turan pass. The gates then fully opened & a second goal came in the 62nd min when Mandzukic headed in from a Koke pass. Two minutes later - 64th min - Griezmann got the third to see the fourth come in the 88th min when Godin headed in a corner & the 5th came in the 93rd min from Cerci who came on late.

Good & important win for the Spaniards as before this game all the Group A teams were with 3 points. The Group is difficult & wins are "priceless".

Real Madrid travelled to "Anfield" to play Liverpool FC in their Group B clash. Traditionally a "Hell location" for the Spaniards which tonight they managed to change that around winning 0 - 3 with a authoritative performance.

The English team started strong with speed & creating some dangerous occasions. However, Real Madrid managed to regain the ball & steadied things down to their pace & began to dominate. The class of the Spanish midfield, especially Isco, showed & the first goal soon came when James Rodriguez found Cristiano Ronaldo who scored in the 22nd min. From here, Real Madrid took over & the second came in the 30th min with a brilliant header from Benzema who later scored again in the 41st min - two goals from Benzema tonight - with a inner goal square "scramble".

In the second half Liverpool FC managed to stop the haemorrhage with more intensity & pulling from pride, an admirable exhibition that was expected from this prestigious Club. The substitution of Balotelli at half time for Lallana was a factor in the better play from Liverpool with young Sterling also putting in a worthily performance of speed & danger all night. Liverpool hit the post & had their chances, while Real Madrid defended well , controlled things & later had their minds perhaps more in next Saturday big "Clasico" & Liga match against FC Barcelona. Special mentions to Varane & James for their efforts - tireless.

Great win that gives Real Madrid 9 points in their Group & tranquillity.
